About Me
In 1989, I attended a seminar on "Buy your home, NO MONEY DOWN". I was hooked on the concept of buying a home with the available loan options. Even before I got my license to work in the real estate and mortgage business, I helped a lot of friends buy their first homes. Since 1994, I went to open houses with my friends and helped them make buying decisions. In the late ‘90s there were multiple offers – yes, up to 17 offers on a house. So the decision needed to be made fast and ‘over the asking price’.
I made a detour before coming to work in the mortgage business. With a BA in Accounting and Finance and a MS in Information Systems and Computer Science, I worked in high tech for several years. Although in the latter part of my career I managed multiple functions at companies such as, Oracle, Borland, Ashton-Tate, etc., my career started in technical support.
I like problem solving and helping others. This of course has also manifested itself in the 9 books I have written. First eight were ‘how to’ books on Ashton-Tate/Borland software products and were for beginner through intermediate levels. These were published by Random House, Prentice Hall and McGraw-Hill. Last year has been quite something with all the sweeping changes in the mortgage industry. Rates have been generally up but good deals still exist. The 2nd house that I bought in 1997 was at 8.25% for 30 year fixed.
